If your own website runs on WordPress, the Overviu plugin puts your calendar on it with a shortcode. Guests pick their dates and the number of guests, see whether the place is free and what the stay costs, and continue to your booking site with everything filled in. The booking itself, the payment and your terms stay on your booking site. The plugin needs no API token. For a website that isn’t on WordPress, see Add your calendar to your website.

Before you start

  • A WordPress site (version 6.3 or newer) where you can install plugins.
  • The name of your booking site: the first part of its overviu.app address. For villa-laut.overviu.app it is villa-laut. Find the address in Settings → Domains under Managed subdomain.
  • At least one active listing.

Steps

1

Install the plugin

In WordPress, go to “Plugins” → “Add New Plugin” → “Upload Plugin”, choose the plugin’s zip file and click “Install Now”, then “Activate Plugin”.
2

Enter your booking site

Go to “Settings” → “Overviu”. In “Booking site”, type the name of your booking site, or paste its whole overviu.app address, and save. The page then says “Connected to” with your booking site’s name.If your booking site uses your own domain, still enter its overviu.app name here.
3

Copy a shortcode

Lower on the same page, “Shortcodes” lists one for each of your listings, and for each unit type of a building:
  • [overviu_calendar listing="sea-view"] shows one listing’s calendar, the guests, the price and a button to reserve.
  • [overviu_search] shows a search bar across all your listings.
4

Paste it into a page

Paste the shortcode into any page, post or text widget. In the block editor use the “Shortcode” block; in Elementor use the “Shortcode” widget.

What happens next

  • The calendar shows your real availability and prices. When a guest clicks the button, your booking site opens with their dates and guests filled in, and they finish the booking there.
  • A booking that started on your website is an ordinary booking on your booking site.
  • The calendar uses the colours and font from your branding unless you change them in the plugin.
Renaming your team changes your overviu.app address. Enter the new name in the plugin afterwards, or the calendar stops loading.

Defaults

“Settings” → “Overviu” has defaults that apply wherever a shortcode doesn’t say otherwise: A shortcode can set the same things for one place:

Change the look

Under “Look” you can set a primary colour, the colour of the text on it, a font and the corner radius. Leave them empty to use your Overviu branding.
  • The font is named, not downloaded: your WordPress theme must already load it.
  • Your theme’s CSS can change more than these four. See Style the calendar.

If the calendar doesn’t show

  • Nothing appears where the shortcode is. Open the page while signed in to WordPress: a line starting with “Overviu:” says what is missing, either the booking site in the settings or a listing on the shortcode. Visitors never see that line.
  • The settings page says “Overviu has no booking site called …”. Check the name against your address in Settings → Domains.
  • A listing is missing from the list of shortcodes. Only active listings are shown. See Create a listing.
