Choosing how a listing is paid is part of its Pricing tab; anyone in the team can change it. Connecting Stripe is for owners and admins; see Connect Stripe.
Choose how a listing is paid
Open the listing → Pricing → Payment. Under When does the guest pay?, pick one and click Save payment settings.- In full when booking
- Part now, the rest later
- At check-in
Guest pays in full when booking. On your booking site, the guest clicks Continue to payment and pays the whole stay on Stripe’s checkout page. The booking is Awaiting payment while they pay, and becomes Confirmed with the payment status Paid as soon as Stripe tells Overviu.
The hold while a guest pays
While a guest pays on your booking site, the booking is Awaiting payment and holds its dates for 60 minutes. If the guest doesn’t finish in time, the booking is cancelled and the dates are free again, and your team gets a Payment not completed email. For a Direct booking you add yourself with Ask the guest to pay online, you choose the time (24 hours to 7 days), and the guest pays from their booking page. On the booking, Extend gives them more time.Invoices
Some payments are sent as Stripe invoices: the guest gets an email from Stripe and pays it online.- A balance that couldn’t be charged to the saved card.
- A higher price after you change a booking.
- Extras you charge, below.
Charge for extras
To charge a guest for something extra (a late checkout, airport pickup, breakage), open the booking and click Charge guest. Enter the Amount and What for, and click Send invoice. Stripe emails the guest an invoice they can pay online within 7 days. Extras are kept apart from the stay: they don’t change the stay’s price, and a cancellation refund doesn’t include them. See Refunds.Where to follow payments
- The booking’s Payment section shows every payment, refund and invoice, and what’s still owed. Open in Stripe opens a payment in your Stripe Dashboard.
- The Dashboard shows upcoming payments and cash flow, and Reports has the money report.
