A few ideas run through all of Overviu. Knowing them makes the rest of the guides quicker to follow.

Teams

Everything in Overviu belongs to a team: listings, bookings, guests, messages and settings. Signing up creates your first team, and you can belong to several, for example your own rentals and a client’s. Switch between them with the team switcher at the top of the sidebar; every page shows the team you’ve switched to. Each team has its own plan, its own Stripe account and its own booking site.

Roles

Everyone in a team has one of three roles. Members don’t see:
  • Reports;
  • the money on the Dashboard: revenue, cash flow, upcoming payments and the getting-started checklist;
  • the team’s Domains, Branding, Booking site, Coupons and Payments settings.
They also can’t move listings to the trash or restore them. See Team and roles.

Listings

A listing is something guests can book. There are three kinds.
  • Single property: a house, villa or apartment let as a whole.
  • Building: a building whose apartments or rooms are let separately. It holds unit types, and can also be booked as a whole (Rent the whole building).
  • Unit type: a kind of unit inside a building, like “2-bedroom apartment”, with the units of that type (2A, 2B…). Guests book a unit type, and Overviu assigns a free unit automatically.
Each unit counts toward your plan’s limit: a single property is one unit, and a building counts only its units. A listing’s status decides whether guests can see it:
  • Draft: new listings start here. Only your team sees them.
  • Active: on your booking site and bookable.
  • Archived: kept for your records, off the booking site.
A listing you no longer need can be moved to the trash, which takes it off the booking site; you can restore it from Listings. See Create a listing, Buildings and units and Trash and restore.

Bookings

Every booking has a status: And a source, where it came from: Manual, Direct (your booking site), API, Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo or Expedia. When you add a booking yourself, you pick its source, so a stay booked on Airbnb can be recorded as one. Bookings marked as from Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo or Expedia can’t be changed in Overviu, only cancelled: those sites own them. Calendar sync doesn’t create bookings. It blocks the nights that are booked on the other sites, without guest details; see Channels. Direct bookings (from your booking site, or added by you with the source Direct) also have a payment status, because Overviu keeps track of their money: Paid, Part paid, Awaiting payment or Pay at check-in. See Bookings and statuses.

The booking site

Every team gets a direct booking site at your-team.overviu.app, and can use its own domain instead. It shows your active listings, takes bookings with your terms and rental agreement, and takes payments through your Stripe account. See Set up your booking site.

Channels

Airbnb, Booking.com and Vrbo are channels: other sites your listings are on. Overviu keeps calendars in step with them both ways by calendar (iCal) links, so a booking on one site blocks the dates everywhere. See Calendar sync.
