# Calendar sync

> Keep your calendars in step with Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo and other sites, so a night booked on one is blocked on all of them.

If your listing is also on Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo or another site, connect their calendars. Overviu and the other site then swap calendar (iCal) links: nights booked on one side are blocked on the other every 15 minutes, which keeps you from being double booked.

Calendar sync passes on dates only, never guests or prices: a night booked on Airbnb shows up in Overviu as a blocked night marked "Airbnb", not as a booking.

## Before you start

* The listing is on the other site, and you can sign in to that site's host dashboard (extranet).

## Steps

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the listing's Booking sites tab">
    Open the listing → **Booking sites**.

    For a unit type, each unit has its own section, because each apartment is listed on the other sites separately.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the site">
    Under **Add a booking site**, **Choose a site**: Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo or **Other site**. If you already have the site's calendar link, paste it into **Its calendar link (optional)**. Click **Add**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Give the site your Overviu calendar link">
    Copy **Your Overviu calendar link** and paste it into the other site, so it blocks the nights booked in Overviu. Overviu shows where to paste it for each site, for example:

    * On Airbnb: Listings → your listing → Availability → Connect calendars → Connect to another website.
    * On Booking.com: Rates & Availability → Sync calendars → Add calendar connection, then choose the room.
    * On Vrbo: Calendar → Import & export → Import calendar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Paste the site's calendar link into Overviu">
    If you didn't add it in step 2, copy the other site's own calendar link and paste it into its **calendar link** field, then click **Save**. Overviu shows where to find it too:

    * On Airbnb: Availability → Connect calendars → Connect to another website → copy "Airbnb calendar link".
    * On Booking.com: Rates & Availability → Sync calendars → Export calendar, and copy the link for this room.
    * On Vrbo: Calendar → Import & export → Export calendar.

    Overviu reads it straight away.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What happens next

* Every 15 minutes, Overviu reads each site's calendar and blocks the nights booked there, up to two years ahead. Click **Sync now** to read it straight away.
* Each site reads your Overviu calendar link on its own schedule (often every few hours, depending on the site). Your link includes the nights booked or blocked in Overviu, and the nights booked on the other sites you've connected.
* Each connection shows when it last synced, or **Sync failed** with the reason. A failed sync also shows on the **Dashboard** under **Needs attention**.

## Possible double booking

If another site shows a night as taken but it's already booked in Overviu, the connection shows **Possible double booking** with the nights and the booking code. Overviu doesn't change your booking: check both sites and cancel or move one of the stays.

## Buildings

On a building, each unit type's units are connected on the unit type's **Booking sites** tab. If the whole building is listed on another site too, switch on whole-building booking first ([Buildings and units](/listings/buildings-and-units#renting-the-whole-building)); the building's **Booking sites** tab then has a **Whole building** section.

## Change or remove a connection

* **Regenerate link** makes a new Overviu calendar link and stops the old one. Paste the new one into the other site.
* **Remove** disconnects the site and frees the nights imported from it. Remove your Overviu link on the other site too.
